The Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles will be able to issue original driver licenses and identification cards beginning Tuesday morning, May 4. The DMV will also be able to process name changes and other licensing transactions that have been on hold since last week.
The department’s Information Technology division has been able to update the Department’s system to enable field offices to issue cards that comply with the existing Nevada standards that have been in place since 2004.
The DMV will not be able to issue any licenses or ID cards under the Advanced Secure Issuance (ASI) process rolled out earlier this year. The DMV and the Nevada Legislative Commission are continuing to work on the regulations necessary for the ASI licensing program to move forward.
