Testing Fee - effective July 1, 2009
The $25 first-time fee will be charged on all knowledge tests. It includes a drive test at a later date when applying for an instruction permit. One fee applies to any combination of knowledge or endorsement tests including a drive test when paid for on the same day. The $10 retest fee applies to any test taken more than once.
The first-time fee will not be charged for your first drive test if your instruction permit was issued prior to July 1 and is valid at the time of testing. Tests required for medical reasons may be exempt as well. There is no charge for vision tests.
The 2005 Nevada Legislature (Assembly Bill 84) authorized the Department to waive the fee for homeless persons to obtain a duplicate Nevada driver's license or identification card. This is a one-time exemption for duplicate licenses only. You must apply for this in person at a DMV office and submit the proper Proof of Identity, the DLD-1 License Application and the following form:
We suggest that you pay the $3 photo fee at the time you receive your duplicate if possible. You may be required to reimburse this fee to the Department at the time of your next regular renewal, if you are employed at the time of the renewal.
The homeless exemption does not apply to:
New residents obtaining a Nevada license or ID for the first time
Renewals
Any fees or requirements associated with a license suspension or revocation
