Address changes on Commercial Driver Licenses must be completed in person. See DMV Office Locations. We do not accept any address change by email.

Advanced Secure Issuance logo

You must present two documents to prove your residential address under the DMV's new Advanced Secure Issuance process.

See the ASI Required Documents Tip Sheet (DMV-004) for a list.

Nevada law requires motorists to notify DMV of a change of address within 30 days of the move, including residents who are leaving the state permanently.

Keeping your address current with us is important as we mail your renewal notices.  We also use the mail to notify residents of license suspensions, vehicle insurance validation problems and other potentially serious issues. You may list separate mailing and residence addresses.

Fax or Mail

Download and complete the Change of Address Notification (DMV-022) and gather your proof of residential address. You may fax the request to (775) 684-4992 or mail it to the address on the application.

You should include a Payment Authorization (VP-205) with faxed orders or an authorization, check or money order with mailed applications. Do not send cash. You must send two forms of proof of your residential address as listed on the Tip Sheet or Proof of Residency.

The cost for your license or ID card is $3. We will mail you a new license or ID card within 10 business days. Updated Registration Certificates and/or license plate decals cost $5 for each vehicle. These are mailed separately.

Active-duty military members, spouses and dependents who are residents of Nevada but stationed in another state should include a copy of their most recent Leave and Earnings Statement.

The DMV has switched to a Central Issuance license system. We no longer issue license stickers. You will receive a new license.

In Person

You can complete a change of address in person at any DMV office. Fees are $3 for your license or ID card and $5 for each Registration Certificate and/or license plate decal. The new license or ID will be mailed to you. Registration Certificates are issued at the office.

You must present two forms of proof of your residential address as listed under Proof of Residency. See also the Tip Sheet (DMV 004). You may wish to consider whether to also comply with the ASI Proof of Identity requirements and renew your license at the same time.

Use the following application for in-person address changes:

Please complete the application and have your proof of address ready before you visit the DMV office. See Office Locations.

Vehicle registration renewals completed through the Internet, telephone or an emissions inspection station are sent to the address on record for the vehicle. The U.S. Postal Service will not forward the Registration Certificate and decal. A forwarding order with the Postal Service does not change your address with the DMV.

If we do not have your correct address, please renew by mail and include a Change of Address Notification. You will need to provide two forms of proof of your residential address.

If you have already completed the renewal, you will have to apply for a substitute decal. You may use an Application for Duplicate Registration Certificate (VP-013), a Payment Authorization and a if needed.

Include a cover letter with your daytime telephone number. Fax these to (775) 684-4797 or mail them to the address on the application. If you are mailing your application, you may pay by check or money order.

The substitute decal and Registration Certificate will be mailed within 7 - 10 business days. You may also obtain a substitute decal in person at any DMV office.
